Easter Egg Cookies
Are you looking for a unique Easter treat or activity? You are in luck because today I’m sharing an easy recipe for edible paint that will accomplish both! This is SUCH a fun way to get the kids involved in creatively decorating yummy Easter cookies. Check out more Easter ideas here!
You will need egg shaped sugar cookies; bake your favorite recipe or use store-bought to cut down on the prep time for this Easter activity.
Simply spread this edible paint onto your Easter cookies with unused paintbrushes or popsicle sticks. It goes on smoothly like real paint, turning your Easter egg cookies into a blank canvas! A light layer goes on sheer like watercolor. Spread it on thicker if you would like it to be more opaque. My favorite part is the pretty iridescent sheen! This activity is a wonderful (and tasty!) treat for your next Easter party. Give everyone their own palette of edible paint to decorate their cookie. It’s a fun snack-tivity for all ages! Older kids can choose to paint a design while younger preschoolers or toddlers can spread bright colors. The results will look great and I promise that they taste even better!
Isn’t this this best? I am already how imagining that it will be an amazing party activity for any upcoming holiday or birthday theme!
How to Make Edible Paint:
Edible Marshmallow Paint
Ingredients
- 1 cup Marshmallows
- 3 tbsp Light Corn Syrup
- 1/4 cup Water
- Food Coloring
- Sugar Cookies (homemade or store bought)
Instructions
- Microwave 1 packed cup of marshmallows for 30 seconds until puffy
- Stir in 1/4 cup water
- Microwave for additional 30 seconds
- Separate into different containers and add 1-2 drops food coloring for each desired color
Take extra care when mixing the hot marshmallows and let the paint cool a bit before decorating the cookies.
Storage Notes: The marshmallow paint is good for a few days in a sealed container. The “paint” will remain tacky, so store them in a single layer if they are not eaten right away.
