DIY Crayon Pretzel Rods

Ingredients

  • Pretzel rods
  • White chocolate candy melts
  • Gel food coloring (if using white chocolate) OR colored candy melting wafers
  • Free printable crayon wrappers
  • Clear tape
  • Optional: Crayon treat boxes for gifting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pretzels. Cut each pretzel rod in half to create crayon-sized pieces.
  2. Melt the chocolate. Melt the white chocolate according to the package directions. Divide into small bowls and tint with gel food coloring, or simply melt colored candy wafers in your favorite crayon colors.
  3. Dip the pretzels. Dip each end of a pretzel into the colored chocolate, leaving the center exposed. Let any excess drip off before placing the pretzels on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Let them harden. Allow the chocolate to cool completely until firm. You can leave them at room temperature or refrigerate them for 10–15 minutes to speed things up.
  5. Wrap the crayons. Print and cut out the free crayon wrappers. Wrap one around the center of each pretzel and secure it with a small piece of clear tape.
  6. Package and enjoy! Serve immediately, add them to lunchboxes, use them as classroom treats, or package them in crayon-shaped treat boxes for an extra adorable first day of school gift.

Tips

  • To cut pretzel, use a sharp serrated knife and “saw” them instead of pressing straight down. The chocolate will hide imperfections on the cut edge!
  • Colored candy melts are the quickest option since you won’t need to tint white chocolate.
  • If using white chocolate, stick with gel food coloring—liquid food coloring can cause the chocolate to seize.
