Looking for a simple and creative way to ring in the New Year? Whether you’re celebrating at a party, watching the ball drop at home in your jammies, or just looking for a fun New Year’s Eve activity, this DIY Pipe Cleaner Crown craft is sure to add a little extra magic to the night. Make it as simple or elaborate as you want- all you need are pipe cleaners and a headband to get started! 🎉✨
Supplies Needed:
- Pipe cleaners (variety of colors if you want extra sparkle!)
- A plain headband – I use this set of plain ones my girls already had
- Optional: Star-shaped cookie cutter or a star template
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Create Your Stars:
- Make several pipe cleaner stars by wrapping pipe cleaners around a star cookie cutter, tracing a printed template, or free-handing the shape.
- Leave a little extra length on one end of each star to wrap around the headband later.
- Add the Year:
- To craft the numbers, fold and layer pipe cleaners to create bold, easy-to-read numbers.
- Use additional pipe cleaner pieces to attach the numbers securely to the headband.
- Attach Your Stars:
- Start layering your stars on the headband by wrapping the extra pipe cleaner ends around it. Continue until the design looks just right to you!
- Wrap the Headband:
- Cover the entire headband by wrapping pipe cleaners around it. This step hides any spots where you attached the stars and helps secure everything in place.
- For extra comfort, leave about an inch bare on each side of the headband so the pipe cleaner doesn’t irritate your ears.
And that’s it! Your festive NYE crown is ready to shine. My kids loved making their own, and we had so much fun customizing each crown with different colors and designs.
